Romantic Hotels in Asia
Romantic Hotels in Asia
Asia isn’t really the place for romance. Adventure, sure. Historic places, sure. But a getaway with your loved one? Not so sure.
That’s what I thought, but I was proven wrong. Asia has always been a luxurious destination, but you won’t find all the luxury in the main hubs such as cities and historic places. Instead, the getaway spots are in the remote islands. Now what can get more romantic than being in a secluded place with your loved one? Maybe being in a luxurious secluded place with your loved one, right?
Amankora: Bhutan
Did you know that Bhutan is the lone survivor kingdom in the Himalayas? It only means that when you come here for a romantic tour, you should also not miss out on a cultural/historical tour! And after a long day of walking and absorbing facts and trivia about the kingdom, come home to Amankora. Choose among the five lodges, but the most recommended is Gangtey, where you can experience a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath set in a hut right smack in the middle of a potato field.
Amanpulo: Philippines
The Aman group of resorts has mastered the art of romance and luxury. In the Philippines, Amanpulo remains to be one of the most coveted resorts by locals. It is a remote island, and you won’t be able to go there without having to board a chartered plane and watch it land on the resort’s own runway. Oh yes, the resort has its own runway. Pretty neat, and definitely ups the romance and grandeur. You get your own romantic villa with an unobstructed view of the sea, and you get access to the beach by just walking out of your room.
Raffles Grand Hotel D’Angkor: Cambodia
You’d think that Siem Riep is all dingy and rustic, and you’d have to be a backpacker to truly appreciate its beauty. But right in the middle of it is a luxe hotel that saw visitors such as Jacqueline Kennedy, Charlie Chaplin (I know right?) and Bill Clinton! So if you want a romantic Angkor Wat trip, the Raffles Grand Hotel is the place to stay in. and if you can afford it, why not fly in a photographer to take your pictures with the Angkor Wat as the backdrop. It’s too gorgeous to preserve just in your head.
W Retreat and Spa: Maldives
Yes, Maldives is in Asia. It isn’t a lone country in some far away land where only the rich and the famous can sail too. Maldives is fairly accessible if you live in Asia, although the prices of the hotels, not so much. Still, if you choose to spend a year’s worth of travel fund for just a three-day getaway in Maldives, you’d find it all worth it. At W Retreat and Spa, you get to have your own villa that is only reachable by boat. That means you get to spend time with your loved one with only the possibility of talking fishes as your distraction. So resist the urge to book that cheap Manila to Hong Kong flight, and pool your money for that Maldives getaway. After all, the country is predicted to last for only about 20 years or so.
