Michigan: An Under-Appreciated Tourist Spot
An Under-estimated Tourist Spot: As a tourist spot, Michigan is not as appreciated as other states of USA. It is situated in the northern central part and is the eleventh biggest state of the USA. The name of the state has been derived from the Ojibwa Indian word ‘mishigamaa’ which means ‘large water’ or ‘large lake’. The name is indeed a reference to the state’s location in the Great Lakes Region. The state does not fall short in providing touristic enjoyments though these are not highlighted so much. When people are only aware of some of the known places, this state has several hotspots for enjoying a perfect vacation. People only think of Detroit while thinking visiting Michigan, but forget that the state is one of the foremost places for enjoying recreational boating. Moreover, it has a number of attractions ranging from picturesque little villages to modern metropolis towns.
Enjoy the Beauty of Four Seasons: As being a state of the Midwest region, Michigan is blessed with the colors of four distinct seasons. The seasons can be defined as summer, fall, winter, and springs. The climate and the landscape of the state keep changing with the inauguration of the different seasons which provide wonderful scenic beauties to the travelers. The warm summer gives the freedom to swim in the water while the snowy winter offers thrilling cross-country skiing experience. The chilly fall, with trees turning and clean weather, spreads a beautiful poetic melancholy on the landscapes, while the spring announces the stir of life by bringing back the color green on the flora life. Visiting the state in different seasons offers different types of experience to the travelers. For example, a summer tour allows spending quality time with the families at the Great Lake, while a winter visit can offer the excitement of a ski resort in the woods far from the hue and cry of metropolitan life.
Places of Tourist Interest: Apart from the landscape beauty, Michigan has other excitements too to offer to the tourists. The Air Zoo, which has the world’s largest indoor murals, is a unique museum where visitors can spend good time with their family or dear ones. The Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park is a place that can be visited any time of the year regardless of the seasons. It displays some of the greatest sculpture works from acclaimed artists. The outdoor area of the park offers wonderful natural trails and boardwalks. In fact, it is a merging of art and nature that offers the visitors enjoying a new kind of glory. Mackinac Bridge is something worth visiting as it is considered by some people as the ‘8th wonder of the world’. It draws a huge number of tourists every year and contributes to the economic growth of the state. The National Marine Sanctuary is designed for the people interested in the history of shipwrecks. Michigan’s Adventure Amusement Park and Wildwater Adventure Waterpark gives the opportunity to taste the enjoyments of two types of parks in just one ticket. Besser Museum, Hazen’s Blueberry Farm is other notable places to take a visit. Other than these places, taking a visit at the Grand Heaven city gives the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the Lake Michigan and all the activities surrounding it. For festival loving people there is Ann Arbor Summer Festivals which takes place during June and July. The state is, indeed, one of the best place for taking some little adventures like, cycling, trekking on the rugged path, hunting game animals, fishing, camping, etc.
