A Short Introduction: Nebraska is a state situated in the Midwestern part of the United States. The name of this state has been derived from an Otoe Indian word that means ‘flat water’, for a river called Platte River is flowing through the middle of the state. A number of rivers are there in the state that had contributed to the amalgamation of varied cultures of indigenous people who used to live here before the invasion of Europe.Omaha, Otoe, Pawnee, Ponca, etc. are some of the Native American tribes that used to live here in ancient time. Approximately, two years after the American Civil War, this state became the 37th state on March, 1867. After that, Lincoln became the new capital of the newly born state.

A Great Combination of History and Festivity: Nebraska is divided into 93 counties all of which are bordered by solid lands which means, the state does not border the ocean. There are three rivers flowing through the state namely Platte, Niobrara, and Republican. An interesting fact is that this state is split into two time zones. The eastern half of the state runs by Central Time Zone and the western half is in the Mountain Time Zone. It is a place which attracts hordes of tourists from all over the world every year. It would be difficult to count the number of places of tourist attractions if counted by fingers. Almost every city of this state has some places of interest. However, some of the notable and interesting places of this state are Grant County Museum, Durham Museum, Frank House in Kearney, Arbor Lodge State Historical Park, Golden Spike Tower, Visitor Center,and Union Pacific Bailey Railroad Yard. The festivals held here are Winnebago Pow-wow and Anime NebrasKon. The Arbor Day, which was inspirited from the zeal to plant, nurture and celebrate trees, is an official holiday of the state. The plan of initiating such a day was first conceived and materialized by J. Starling Morton, one of Nebraska’s earliest and most renowned citizens. The museums and Frank house are good sources of the state’s history. Visiting these places can enrich one’s knowledge about historical facts of this state. One of the largest anime competitions is held in this state under the name of Anime NebrasKon which takes a lively and vigorous atmosphere with 150 panels and activities. The pow-wow is a tribal festival where Indians gather with their friends and family. This social gathering occurs in the last five days of the month of July and is a great tourist attraction.
