Perth, Western Australia – A Beautiful City Built Beside the Swan River
The city of Perth is situated on the beautiful Swan River 20 kilometers inland from the port city of Fremantle and the Indian Ocean. This will be the starting point for your adventure holiday in Perth and the vast and exciting state of Western Australia.
When you compare Perth to other cities in the world, you will find it quite small in comparison, but you will also find that it is one of the most beautiful. We experience a very pleasant Mediterranean style of climate here in Perth, making this a great holiday destination at any time of the year. Summers are mostly hot and dry and last from late December until late March, with February generally being the hottest month of the year. The winter daytime temperatures are normally around 16° and this means that even during winter, you can get out and about to explore the attractions that Perth has to offer. But if you really want to see Perth and its very best, then plan to be here during our spring time when the parks and gardens throughout the city are alive with colour.
If you are looking for a holiday destination that can offer you some of the best beaches in the world, then you certainly will not be disappointed if you come to Western Australia. You will find about 120 km of white pristine sandy beaches that are quite famous for swimming, diving, fishing, windsurfing and surfing, and many of these beaches are patrolled by the Surf Lifesaving Clubs of Western Australia that help to make our beaches not only a great place for swimming, but also a safe one, as long as you take their advice and swim between the flags.
You will find many attractions here in this beautiful city of Perth, and one of the most popular tourist attractions that we have, and certainly one of the most photographed, would have to be the beautiful Kings Park and Botanic Gardens. This park that is almost in the centre of the city is just over 1000 acres in area, with most of it being natural bushland, but there are also vast areas of lawn with shady trees that make this Park so popular for family gatherings. There are more memorials and statues in Kings Park than you will find in any other park throughout Australia. The lemon scented gum trees that line Frazer Avenue, the entrance Road to the Park, a truly magnificent trees to see.
You will have no problems in finding accommodation in Perth, as we cater for all needs and budget’s, there are magnificent five-star hotels if you want to enjoy some luxury while you are here, or you can stay at one of the many backpacker establishments throughout the city, that even though they may be quite cheap, they are still of a very high standard. Most of the five-star hotels and many of the backpacker places are situated very close to the city centre and within walking distance of the Northbridge entertainment areas, where you will find many nightclubs as well as a great variety of restaurants offering cuisine from many different cultures throughout the world.
The Swan Valley, that we referred to as The Valley of Taste is only a 30 Minute Drive from the centre of the city and is well worth a visit, especially if you are here during our Spring in the Valley Festival time, when our world-class wineries open their doors to the public so we can sample their magnificent wines.
