Rhode Island: A Magical Place To Be Explored

The Ocean State: Rhode Island is a state of USA situated in the New England region. It is one of the least populous but ranks second in the list of most densely populated 50 states of USA. It shares border with two other states and has a water margin with New York’s Long Island. It has the official nickname ‘The Ocean State’ which is the identification of its having several large bays and inlets. The water portion occupies almost 14% of its total areas. The land portion secures roughly half of the total area of the state. It secures a special place in the history of the USA, as it was the first among the 13 colonies that declared independence from the British rule. This small but important state is a lovely tourist spot that hosts a lot of tourists round the world every year.

Amazing Wildlife Variations: Rhode Island is notable for not only tourist attractions but also for being a sanctuary for a variety of wildlife. It has a humid continental climate with warm rainy summers and chilly winters. This climate has provided the right atmosphere for diverse biological and vegetation growth. The three distinct land types namely sandplain lowlands, rising hills, and highlands have become the fertile bearers of tulip trees, pin and post oaks, red cedar, cattails, 40 types of ferns, 30 types of orchids, etc. Coastal water is filled with swordfish, bluefish, lobsters, clams, etc. The mammals include beavers, foxes, hares, minks, moles, muskrats, opossums, otters, rabbits, raccoons, shrugs, skunks, squirrels, etc. one of the most attractive places of this state is its five refuges that are made for birds; especially for migratory birds. During fall and spring migration, over 400 species of birds use the refuses to rest and feed. These are the permanent as well as temporary residences of a lot of birds and some endangered birds nest in these places. These refuges are open for visitors which is a great chance of coming in close contact with nature as well as first-hand experience about wildlife.

More than 100 fresh- and salt-water beaches are there across the 400-mile long shoreline. There are also facilities for swimming, camping, picnicking, horseback riding, surfing, skin diving, boating, water skiing, etc. These facilities have increased the appeals of these beaches manifold. The wonder of this state does not end with the display of these beaches.
