The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a moderately sized zoo containing a little over 650 different animals. It is not the largest zoo in the world but it has all of the zoo staples like lions, wolves, hippos, elephants, monkeys, giraffes and more. In addition to these zoo basics, it is also home to several endangered species such as the Siberian tiger, Black Footed ferret and the Amur Leopard. When you are there you should be sure to take your kid or kids for a ride on the antique carousel. The antique carousel was built in 1926, the same year that the zoo was founded, and is a colorful ride that has been kept in pristine condition. You are sure to enjoy it. After riding the carousel you can go for a ride on the zoo’s tram. The tram will take you on a 15 minute loop around the zoo and will only cost you $1 to ride. It is well worth the small cost.
The above attractions are just a few of the interesting things to do at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. There are many more things waiting for both you and your children to enjoy. For information on current admission prices and visiting hours you can call the zoo’s information line at 719-633-9925.
