The Denver Art Museum was founded in 1893 in a seven story building. Work recently began on a unique edition designed by architect Daniel Libeskind which will double the size of the current museum. It will also give the city a new very unique structure to appreciate. Work on the addition should be finished late in 2006. The museum hosts a large variety of collections including an extensive collection of western and regional works. Examples of work in that collection include Charles Russell’s ” In the enemy’s country”, Frederick Remington’s “The Cheyenne” and several works from Georgia O’Keefe. In addition to the western and regional art the museum also has a large collection of Indian art, African art, Asian art, European art and Spanish art among others.
