The Crimean mountains are one of the favourite places for climbers. It is a real challenge for brave people to conquer them. The highest mountain is Roman-Kosh that has a height of 1545 metres above the sea. Apart from that, the Crimea has a very rich history that dates back to the 12th century B.C. Many ethnicities and Empires, that dominated the peninsula during the previous two millenniums, left many relics on its territory. If you ever travel there, it is absolutely a must to see the Swallow Castle that is a symbol of the Southern coast of the Crimea. The Vorontsov Palace is another place of interest, especially for those who like the architecture of the historical styles of England (late gothic) of the 16-17th centuries. The Genoa Fortress in Feodosiya was built in the 14th century and is one of the oldest remnants of those times and culture in the region. The walls of the fortress spread for about 718 metres along the coast of the sea back in those days. Today only 469 metres remain in the form of ruins.
The Crimea is also famous by its numerous musical festivals. Many music fans often go there just to participate and listen to their favorite style of music for several days in a row. The styles vary, from ethnic to metal music. The most famous are Kazantip and MHM festival. Many events are organized there very often as well. Some of the Ukrainian politicians and a President himself have residences in the Crimea were they meet with their colleges from other countries. This sunny region is a favorite place of many children after they visit Artek – the biggest international camp for children.
