Holidays to Borneo

With some of the most magnificent forests, wildlife, and landscapes on Earth surrounded by azure seas, Borneo is one of the greatest holiday destinations on earth.

Holidays to Borneo can encompass the cultural – especially in Sarawak in and around the historic capital of Kuching and the Dayak Longhouses in the interior to the magnificent wealth of biodiversity in the ancient rainforests of the Danum Valley; the untouched wilderness of the Maliau Basin and the jagged mountains around Mt. Kinabalu with giant pitcher plants that can digest a small rodent to the bizarrely beautiful Rafflesias – the largest flowers in the world!

This is the land of orangutans and pygmy elephants; giant crocodiles and 8 species of colourful hornbills; of mysterious Sumatran Rhinos, endemic Proboscis monkeys and graceful gibbons. Imagine waking at dawn in a luxurious lodge deep in a primary rainforest to the wild ‘singing’ of Bornean gibbons from high in the trees across the river. Then walking with your expert private guide along a partially cleared track, trip-wired by a maze of shallow roots in pursuit of a huge adult male orangutan too heavy to cross from tree to tree. A slow walk in pitch darkness scanning the slender trunks of young saplings for the soft gleam from the huge non-reflective eyes of a western tarsier – the tiny orange-furred primate that inspired ET. And then returning to a sumptuous meal before retiring to your rainforest bungalow and plunging into a huge stone bath on the verandah, listening to the orchestra of the rainforest.

And the islands in the Sulu Sea offer some of the best diving, snorkelling and relaxing in the world with the joy of nesting turtles being seen throughout the year. Holidays to Borneo offer some of the fun, enjoyable and educational holidays on offer in all of Asia! It is also a fabulous country to take the whole family on holiday. Sabah (North Borneo) is an excellent place for children. When you’re tired of searching for orangutans and other delightful primates, why not go white water rafting, search for elephants in the jungle, go horse riding, or simply sample the wonderful beaches on offer. Close to the capital of Sabah is a wonderful resort that has weekly schedules for children, including visiting the orangutan rehabilitation centre, watersports, riding and golf and white water rafting trips. Borneo is also wonderful for nesting marine turtles and there is a tiny atoll with only one resort, which is great for snorkelling and watching turtles.

Holidays to Borneo are an amazing opportunity to get up close and personal with beautiful scenery and wildlife, including magnificent forests and orangutans. We organise the most amazing holidays to Borneo.
