Favorite Italian Holiday Destinations
Millions of tourists choose to visit Italy each year. It’s not hard to see why, given that this must be the most beautiful countries on the planet. If you’re planning to visit Italy then you may be wondering which part of the country to head for.
The reality is that this is a place that is wonderfully suited to tourists and which is able to offer a wide range of holiday options. Where you choose to stay may well depend on the type of Italian holiday that your are planning.
Let’s begin by looking at the great Italian cities. For those visiting Italy for the first time, the beautiful cities are often top of the agenda. Even picking a favourite city is difficult.
Rome offers the chance to see ancient ruins and the splendour of the Vatican City. Indeed, the capital is a hectic, fun place to spend time. Here you can feel like you are mixing with great figures from the past.
But who could say that Rome is better than Venice, for example? The latter offers a different experience but one that is just as spectacular. Visiting Venice for the first time, you can’t help but wonder at its location. This is a unique city.
Two great places to stay and yet Florence, Pisa, Siena and Milan are all also able to capture the imagination. Where should you choose? We all have our favourites, but the key is to decide upon the type of holiday that you want and then pick a location to suit.
What if you want to get away from city life and experience rural Italy? Fortunately, you will still not be short of options.
Personal favourites would include Tuscany and the stunning Amalfi coast. Indeed, either of these locations would also enable you to enjoy a mix of rural and urban, should you so wish.
We shouldn’t overlook the Italian lakes either. This area of northern Italy has some of the finest scenery in the country.
One of the great things about visiting any of these regions is that you’ll be assured of a warm welcome and some great hospitality. The Italians are rightly famed for their great cuisine and wines too.
As you travel through the country you’ll discover your own favourite dishes, wines and regions. So where should you start?
That’s very much up to you. My personal opinion would be that you can’t go far wrong with a visit to Tuscany. Enjoy the countryside, taste the wines and make time for Siena, Pisa and Florence while you’re there.
Whatever you choose, you’re certain to have fun!
