Australia Wildlife Viewing – Where To Spot That Roo Down Under

Looking for a great Australian wildlife viewing experience? Australia is a big country, with lots of different regions, wildlife, and landscapes, but here are a few places that stand out as great places to spot that kangaroo or koala. Try combining several for a unique Australia wildlife tour.

Pebbly Beach (NSW): A beautiful beach frequented by kangaroos makes for a picture-perfect wildlife viewing opportunity.

Jervis Bay (NSW): The closest place to Sydney where you can be certain to spot kangaroos in the wild.

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary (Brisbane, QLD): At the world’s first (and largest) koala sanctuary, you can get your photo taken as you cozy up to a koala.

Hervey Bay (QLD): The warm waters off the Queensland coast, are where the humpback whales come each year between June and October in increasing numbers to give birth… A spectacular sight if you can catch it.

The Great Barrier Reef (QLD): For obvious reasons, this incredible natural phenomena draws wildlife viewers in the thousands… And whether you’re diving, snorkeling, or boating, you’re sure to spot plenty of colorful marine life.

Heron Island (off Gladstone, QLD): This “jewel in the reef” is home to plenty of giant turtles.

Kakadu National Park (NT): One-third of Australia’s bird species live in Kakadu, as well as plenty of saltwater crocs. Check ’em all out with a river cruise,

The Northwest Cape (WA): For a thrill, go snorkeling with a mammoth whale shark.

Kangaroo Island (SA): This tiny island offers the best native wildlife viewing in the country – you’re sure to spot koalas, wallabies, birds, echidnas, reptiles, seals, and sea lions.
