The Top 5 Reasons to Vacation in Chiang Mai

1. One of Chiang Mai’s main attractions is the night market. Open from 5 pm to past midnight every night, the Night Bazaar offers many goods, with “penny to the dollar” prices. There are many vendors, selling a variety of goods, such as clothing, shoes, baggage, tribal products, etc. Along with the vendors, there are numerous restaurants to suit your cravings. Food varies from Japanese, Korean, Thai, Italian, and great Western food. Clubs, bars, and Muay Thai boxing shows can provide great entertainment after you finished your shopping.

2. Chiang Dao Caves provides fun and excitement for an all day family trip. Around 90 minutes north of Chiang Mai, in the Chiang Dao mountains there are caves that you can tour and explore. There are temples surrounding the caves, which make it a common place for Thai people and tourists as well. These caves provide just the adventure for you and your family.

3. Doi Suthep is another great all day adventure for the family. Doi Suthep is one of the most famous temples in all of Thailand. You can travel up the mountain to the temple very easily on a song theow or tour van. Once you get to the top, there is a huge market filled with a variety of foods, and other Thai products. When you are done looking around the market, you can head to the temple. There is a tram that can take you to the top, or you can climb the 300 plus stairs which is a great experience and good exercise. Once you reach the top, you have to pay a fee of 30 baht to enter, but it is well worth it with all the Thai culture you can take in from the surroundings. Did I also mention there is a great view and you can see the city of Chiang Mai, from this mountain temple.

4. Are you looking for a great, relaxing, water splashing day? Then Bua Tong waterfall is just the place for you. This oasis, provides the best place to just relax and have fun. This waterfall is not like any other. At the Bua Tong waterfall you can actually climb up the face of the falls. This unique feature provides great enjoyment for all and you have a wonderful feeling of accomplishment after climbing three stories of calcite covered stones. There are little restaurant stands around the park, for food whenever you get hungry. The grassy fields above the waterfalls provide a great place for a relaxing afternoon picnic. This is a family attraction you do not want to miss when visiting Chiang Mai.

5. One of the major attractions that almost all tourists take part in, are the numerous elephant camps that Chiang Mai has to offer. These camps are amazing in that there is no other place, where you can ride, feed, pet, and watch elephants all in the day. The elephant rides are like no other experience. You are able to ride on the back of an elephant through the jungles of Chiang Mai and enjoy the beautiful scenery. After the treks through the jungle, you can enjoy fun filled entertaining elephant shows, that include the elephants playing sports, doing tricks, and even painting. These camps are a great place to take the children.
