Tokyo Holiday Tips

Are you considering a lovely holiday in Japan? Do you want to experience the exciting Japanese culture for yourself? Did you know it isn’t expensive to explore Japan?

Tokyo is a wonderful place. It is so alive here. There are so many things to see, eat and explore. There are thousands of shops in one square kilometer of space. There is the old Tokyo mixed amongst the new. You’ll need about 6 months to explore the entire city.

I was in Tokyo in 2008 and it was my first time. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The food was so fresh everywhere I went. The people were very friendly. Every time you entered a shop or bar people greeted you with smiles and greetings. The places were so clean. I love going to public toilets here because it was so clean. Of all the Asian countries I have been to, this was the best. I did hear about Taiwan and Singapore but I am still convinced the Japanese are the most hygienic of all the Asian cultures.

We stayed in a capsule hotel in Tokyo and the average was $40Aus per night. It was small, but comfortable for a man like me who is 173cm tall. Apart from having your own 1.2m by 1.2m by 2.m capsule to sleep in the rest of the hotel was shared. It is very clean. Once you step into the hotel you are requested to take off your shoes and store it in a private locker. The receptionists pass you a pair of clean slippers to use instead.

There was sushi everywhere and it was so fresh. The Japanese sushi rice was so moist and soft it was hard to believe. After you have experienced Japanese sushi you wouldn’t eat anything back in Australia. Food isn’t expensive here either. You can get a lunch box with rice for under $7 Australian dollars. The more expensive thing in Japan is the accommodation costs. Wherever I went the sushi was so delicious and fresh. Sushi was very fresh even at the cheaper eateries. This was unbelievable.

If you are going to Tokyo may I suggest doing a little research on the city? Such things to consider is where to stay, eat, what you would like to see and experience. You should learn some simple Japanese to get by because people don’t speak English here.

I also suggest traveling by subway because the train system is so efficient and easy to use. Taxis can be expensive and sometimes rude.
