How to Grab a Cheap Flight Ticket For Your Vacation

What wouldn’t I give for a cheap flight ticket? It isn’t like I cannot afford the regular price but then, if there is a better deal on the table, why not take it? Plus the fact that I am a thorough negotiator so I don’t just take what I am offered without trying to get something squeezed out of it. The mere fact that I am residing in England does not mean that I should not compare flight prices or look for the cheapest flights when I am travelling to a neighbouring country like Holland. The fact remains that I can get a cheap flight to Europe.

Anyway, snagging a great airline deal for cheap flights is not rocket science though it does require a lot of research. If you really wish to travel for a comparatively low fare, you may want to pay attention to these few tips:

i. The very tip I will share was gotten through an experience I had when I tried to look for cheap flights to Dubai. I actually waited until the trip was close in the mistaken belief that I would get the best deals when the departure date drew close. It was a nasty experience. To begin with, I got stuck in a rush for tickets and I guess the airlines rely on the law of demand and supply to sell their tickets. I got on a plane and in chatting with a fellow passenger, found that I paid almost twice the price she paid. I almost choked on my food! It was a bitter lesson but I learnt well…I always make sure that I book on time.

ii. Research, research, research! This might sound like a cliche but it holds true. If you decide to look for the cheapest airfare, then you just have to look beneath the surface to get the great deals. Even when you have gotten some nice prices, you should still go on to compare cheap flights.

iii. One very unorthodox method which is not talked about much is simply to ask frequent travelers how they go about getting nice deals. This saves a lot of trouble and allows you compare flight prices. I have been able to get a very cheap flight ticket every now and then when I tried to compare holidays with a chronic globetrotter. Cheap holidays, he assured me sometimes do come cheap! Imagine that coming from a frequent traveler. Of course, I believed him.

iv. Once I had to travel with my friend to France and he insisted that we move at a very odd time of the year for vacationing. It was a bit annoying initially but when we started moving around without the normal hassles associated with the rush period, I was surprised and pleasantly so. My friend informed me that he makes it a point never to travel when vacationing is in overdrive…not only is it inconvenient but far costlier he informed me. Additionally, you get the FULL attention of the attendants at various spots you visit because of the low tourist traffic. Now, that what I call a pleasant vacation he told me.
